Ms. Mikami joined the UNDP Barbados and the OECS office in July, 2015. She has served as Deputy Resident Representative in UNDP Guyana office from February 2011 to June 2015 and as Deputy Country Director in UNDP Guatemala office from 2007 to February 2011. From 2004 to 2007, she served as Public Affairs and Civil Society Liaison Officer in UNDP Tokyo office. She joined the UNDP in 2000 as Junior Professional Officer (JPO) and served as Programme Officer on Environment and Energy and HIV/AIDS in Cuba from 2000 to 2004. She also had an experience in working as Financial Analyst for Citibank before joining the UNDP.  Ms. Mikami was educated at the College of Arts and Science, the University of Tokyo and the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, where she majored in Latin American Studies and International Affairs, focusing on Economic and Political Development, respectively.
