Program Highlights:
As a part of the collaborative research on "Mexico in the 21st Century" organized and sponsored by the Institute of Developing Economies (Dr. Takeko Hoshino, representative), Dr. Hiroyuki Ukeda launches a research project "Informal Politics and Social Movements after the Earthquake." Dr. Ukeda will also attempt to organize a session on the theme in the Japan-Chile-Mexico Forum in Nikko in September 2018.

Collaboration for Innovation: Academy, Industry and Government Working Together

"On November 30th and December 1st, 2017, the 3rd Japan-Mexico Rectors’ Summit was hosted by Hiroshima University and the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) to discuss and share good practices related to “Collaboration for Innovation: Academy, Industry and Government Working Together” (The excerpts from "Joint Statement" of the Summit). 

Dr. Masashi Haneda, Vice-President of the University of Tokyo, made his presentation in the Session 4, "Future-Oriented for Japan-Mexico Universities Collaboration" on December 1.
Dr. Silvia Giorguli, President of El Colegio de México, made her presentation in the same session.
Dr. Enrique Luis Graue Wiechers, Rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, gave a keynote presentation on November 30.
Dr. Amaury García, Director of the Center for Asian and African Studies, El Colegio de México, was a moderator in the Session 2, "Collaboration in Research" on November 30.
Dr. Takeshi Wada, UTokyo LAINAC, also participated in the summit.
